perils of complacency

You should take a walk.

Along a river, or down a street you’ve never been.

Through a park or garden that doesn’t exactly go straight from ‘a’ to ‘b’.

You can never be sure of the things you will find.

Maybe they’ll surprise you.

It may be completely different to anything you’ve seen.

Or anyone you’ve met.

And regret that you hadn’t done this earlier.

Whether for laziness or procrastination.

Because time flies like an arrow.

And sometimes you don’t have much to begin with.
